Expression of Interest are invited for design and installation of solar energy equipment.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German federal enterprise which offers workable, sustainable and effective solutions and systems for efficient service delivery. Most of GIZ's work is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
GIZ is implementing construction measures under Action Area 2 'Rural WASH Management* at the Mulundu Small Piped Water Supply Scheme (MSPWS) in Mwense district, Luapula Province. It was constructed in the late 1970's and supplies water to a population of nearly 13, 000 people. The Mulundu SPWS comprises of a floating intake, a transmission main, an elevated reservoir tank, the distribution main, supply pipes and supply outlets, i.e., standpipes. The transmission main is approximately 1 km while the elevated reservoir tank has a capacity ofabout45m3. The total length of the distribution and supply network is about 4 km and there are over 100 standpipes.
The works concerned for this assignment is to retrofit the energy source of Mulundu SPWS from on-grid ZESCO electricity to on-grid/ grid-tied solar system. Specifically, a new solar powered centrifugal pump shall be installed together with the necessary solar panels and controls as well as axillaries such as theft protection. In addition, temporary monitoring and servicing of the installed solar powered system needs to be undertaken while the operators will be trained in the safe operation of the system.
