The University of the Bundeswehr Munich (Unibw M) was founded in 1973 at the end of the then Federal Minister of Defense, Helmut Schmidt, under the name "University of the Bundeswehr Munich". She is one of two universities that the Bundeswehr to train its officer candidates and has young officers. The university belongs to the civilian organizational sector and is assigned to the Federal Ministry of Defense. The Unibw M founded a new "Center for Digitization and Technology Research by the Bundeswehr" (DTEC.BW) on August 11, 2020. dtec.bw is Part of the Federal Government's economic stimulus program to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and is equipped with research funds from the economic stimulus program via the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVG). With the inclusion in the German structure and resilience plan (DARP), Dtec.bw of of the European Union - Nextgenerationu financed. In the "Resilient Operation of Lora (R) Networks" (Roloran) project, the Unibw M will research selected scenarios Lora (R)-based communication based on experimental buildings in the laboratory and in deployment environments, technical contributions to increase provide the resilience of corresponding infrastructures, determine the potential for military applications and support consortial partners in the practical use of developed prototypes.
