Request For Expression Of Interest -Data collection Consulting Services In West, Eastern and Southern Africa(Initially with a focus on Nigeria & Madagascar (Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Ondo states in Nigeria, and over 15 sites across Southwestern and Northern Madagascar).
CrossBoundary Energy Access Platform (Access) has received a grant from the African
Development Bank (AFDB) to accelerate the adoption of electric productive use equipment
across its mini-grid sites through its Productive Use Appliances Financing Programme (the
PU Programme). Access has obtained a US$ 1m capital grant from AFDB to help more
than 900 customers in switching from diesel- powered equipment to electric equipment.
2. This consultancy aims to produce data on the adoption of electric productive use equipment
on CrossBoundary Energy Access Platform-s mini-grid sites. The assignment is expected
to be carried out over a period of 2 years, commencing in May 2026. The Programme-s
data collection will include the following, among others:
- Baseline analysis on potential productive use customers
- Conversions (type of equipment financed) over the grant period
- Drivers of adoption of electric productive use equipment
- Role and impact of sales, logistics, installation, and maintenance support in facilitating
the switch
- Changes in energy consumption patterns and sources
- Customer savings attributed to the switch from diesel to electric equipment
- Customer satisfaction with deposit support approach and suggestions for improvement
- Impact of the programme on average consumption per user
- Gender participation
- Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
- Economic outcomes for rural customers
- Sustainability and scalability of the model
