Influence of the Concrete Composition of Road Concretes on the Splitting Tensile Strength with Consideration of Sufficient Durability

For the dimensioning or definition of the layer structure of concrete pavements, the "Guidelines for the Standardization of the Surface of Traffic Areas (RStO ) "provedConstruction methods. Alternatively, a computational determination of the layer thicknesses and sequences can be made in accordance with the "Guideline for the Computational Dimensioning of Concrete Ceilings in Road Surface Traffic Areas (RDO)." This semiprobabilistic procedure has been intensively pursued in Germany in recent years, especially within the framework of OePP projects. Applied to projectsdimensioning, the splitting tensile strength determined on cylindrical disks is included in the calculation method as the decisive material parameter. This allows conclusions about the tensile strength of the ceiling concrete in its upper and lower edge fiber. To determine this characteristic, a special test method (splitting tensile strength on cylindrical disks) was developed. For the current standard recipeIn concrete road construction, there is now a very extensive wealth of experience with regard to the material characteristic value determined by this method. In the construction practice i.d.R. the targeted achieves the minimum gap tensile strengths characteristic of the defined road concrete class. This is especially true for top and bottom concrete recipes, which according to the current Stin the art e.g. be used in the production of washed concrete pavements. As part of this research project, the influence of the concrete composition, in particular on special concrete formulations developed for the grinding technology, on the splitting tensile strength is to be examined. Here are, compared to current standard recipes, the exact Zusammenhaenge between the individual starting materials, the concrete compositions designed from them and the tensile strength to investigate and evaluate in detail. The investigations are intended to enable a targeted design of such concretes.
