CPV Description: The new laboratory for "Traceology and Controlled Experiments" (TraCEr) at the MONREPOS Archaeological Research Center and the Museum of Human Behavioral Evolution (a facility of the Roemisch Germanic Central Museum Mainz, Leibniz Research Institute for Archeology)The goal is to establish detailed experimental logs and standards for controlled experiments and their quantification within the research area of archaeological usage analysis.
Main Site: Monrepos Archaeological Research Center and Museum of Human Behavioral Evolution, Monrepos Castle, 56567 Neuwied ErstelluNg of 3D surface representations and the calculation of the surface roughness of tools from experimental production and archaeological sources. The tools consist of various raw materials: stone (fire stone / basalt, basalt, obsidian, quartz, quartzite, granite, sandstone, ocher pigments) and biological materials (bone, antler, wood, shell).
