1. Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company Ltd (MWSC), through the Government of Zambia, has received financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Agence France de Developpement (AFD) and the European Union (EU) toward the cost of the Zambia Water and Sanitation Project (ZWSP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the Rehabilitation, Upgrade and Extension of Water and Sewerage Network in the towns of Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira within the Zambia's Copperbelt Province..
2. MWSC is wholly and equally owned by the municipalities of Mufulira, Chingola and Chililabombwe and is responsible for providing service to about 500 000 people from about 52 500 water and 51 400 sewer connection customers..
MWSC presently operates 8 Water Treatment Plants with design capacities ranging from 3.5 MLD to 70 MLD; and 17 Sewage Treatment Facilities mainly waste stabilization ponds along with their associated reticulation systems. One of these facilities is a biological filter plant with inlet channels, digesters and ponds, of which only the ponds are in use. Limited major investments in physical infrastructure, coupled with population growth in the peri-urban areas has constrained MWSC's ability to provide adequate and reliable potable water supply and sanitation services to its customers..
3. Objectives: The overall objective of the ZWSP is to contribute towards improving access of the population in the MWSC service area to reliable, sustainable, and affordable potable water and wastewater services..
MWSC intends to prequalify contractors for the contract: "ZWS2-C1XD-W-002: Rehabilitation, Upgrade and Extension of Water and Sewerage Network in Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira"..
The Works may be procured as one contract or divided into a maximum of three Lots as presented below:.
— Lot 1: "ZWS2-C1XD-W-002-L1: Rehabilitation, Upgrade and Extension of Water and Sewerage Network in Chingola", .

The time for completion of the construction activities is up to 18 months from the Contract Commencement Date after which a Defects Notification Period of 12 months shall follow. A margin of preference will not be applied..
4. Details of the experience requirements are set out in the prequalification documentation. Indicative experience requirements are as follows:.
Demonstrable experience in the construction/installation of:.
— Water and sewer reticulation; both rehabilitation of existing pipe work and installation of new pipe work, .
— Bulk water mains (steel, UPVC, HDPe, ductile iron), .
— Storage reservoirs (reinforced concrete and steel), .
— Elevated storage tanks (steel and GRP), .
— Pump stations (structural, building, mechanical, electrical and C&I); both rehabilitation of existing pump stations and construction of new facilities..
