Tenders are invited for Consultant for a Study on Remittances of Migrant Workers to Guinea-Bissau.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall, the study aims to deepen the knowledge of the authorities of Guinea-Bissau on the evolution of transfers in Guinea-Bissau during the last 10 years and their contribution to the reduction of poverty. The study foresees the collection and processing of information / data that can be used to develop policies to improve the sector and contribute to the reduction of poverty, inequality, capacity building of recipients / beneficiaries at national and local level. In addition, the study focuses on measuring the macroeconomic impact and living conditions of women, men and children.

Specifically, the study will serve to clarify the following questions:

· The volume and types of transfers received in the last 10 years (reporting with the latest study);

· What are the characteristics (gender, age, country of residence, type of activity) of Bissau-Guinean emigrant workers;

· What are the characteristics (gender, age and area of ??residence, type of activity) of the beneficiaries and the sectors of activity at national and local level;

· What are the channels / system used and the costs to transfer the funds?

· Number of Bissau-Guinean emigrants abroad and respective host countries;

· Period of year or event for which remittances are more frequent;

· The impact and / or contribution of emigrants' transfers on the economy of Guinea-Bissau and particularly the effects on the lives of the beneficiaries and the socio-economic development of the receiving regions;

Required Skills and Experience

Academic training

· Hold a master's degree in the fields of sociology, economics, history, law, international relations, management and / or administration or equivalent field;

Professional experience

· Experience of at least 10 years working in industry studies and research;

· Experience of at least 10 years in the development of Policies and Strategies for Migrant Promotion Institutions;

· At least 10 years of proven experience in an international institution, NGO, public and / or private support of migrants;

· Have good knowledge of the macroeconomic and microeconomic environment (including the informal sector) of Guinea-Bissau and / or WAEMU zone.

Required languages

Financial Proposal - Financial proposals will be submitted on the basis of the flat rate approach. All anticipated travel costs must be included in the financial proposal.
