NATIONAL CONSULTANT FOR THE REALIZATION OF A REFERENCE STUDY OF THE INDICATORS OF THE PROJECT "STRENGTHENING NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY CAPACITIES TO PREVENT CONFLICT AND VIOLENCE AND THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN TOGO" Togo has been experiencing political confrontations for several years recurring threats to the stability of the country and jeopardizingdevelopment efforts. Despite various processes of dialogue and efforts for national reconciliation, the country remains vulnerable to the erosion of the social fabric and the recurrence of conflicts, as illustrated by the political tensions recorded since August 2017 and marked by rallies and political marches leading to often to violent clashesbetween security forces and protesters. Following a request by the United Nations System in Togo to the Peacebuilding Fund, a joint project document (UNDP / UNICEF) focusing on conflict prevention was approved. in October 2018, with a planned implementation over a period of 18 months. The ultimate objective sought by the project ise demonstrate that with young people, women, community leaders and civil society educated and trained for a new citizenship, committed to work for the reduction of violence, it is possible to achieve a lasting peace, prerequisite for sustainable development from Togo. The joint UNDP / UNICEF project aims to contribute to the reduction of conflicts andt recurring violence related to political and constitutional issues in Togo. This concernsthe protection of human rights through the strengthening of national capacities in peace education, the protection of human rights and the rights of the child, and the promotion of human rights education.
