Competition Wuppertal Vohwinkel city squares As part of the integrated urban development concept “Perspectives Center Vohwinkel”, the aim is to redesign central city squares in the center of Vohwinkel in terms of open space planning. Goal of the competition is the development of a coherent overall concept that further develops public spaces to be climate-resilient, functionally efficient and of high quality in terms of design. The competition area includes the Stationsgarten and Lienhardplatz Realization parts as well as Bahnstrasse as a connecting urban space in the idea section. The sub-areas must be viewed both in terms of their independence and in their spatial context and as a coherent urban structure develop. The central squares take on important functions as lounges, market and event areas as well as arrival points in the context of BUGA 2031. In their current form, they are functional due to high traffic loads Overlays and a low quality of open space planning. The competition must demonstrate how these different requirements can be spatially organized and integrated in a high-quality manner.
