Tender Details

Wuppertal Zoo is currently in need of structural and technical renovation; which means that in terms of energy - measured against the climate goals - it does not correspond to the current state of the art. The technical situation at Wuppertal Zoo is currently a self-sufficient heating center thanks to a distributed systemlen, each of which supplies individual enclosures. The systems are based on natural gas or oil as energy sources. The zoo landscape park and the adjacent zoo district are subject to a monument area statute. In addition, designated buildings in the zoo are protected as historical monuments. This makes dThe technical renovation in the zoo is additional, as appropriate agreements and, if necessary, special expenses are required.

As part of the project, a local heating network based on renewable energy sources is to be created and thus the current state of a decentralized, outdated energy supplyreplace energy with fossil fuels. The project combines innovative heat generators (wood gasification CHP) and uses heat pumps to use existing heat sources (here: river water via well water) or uses waste heat from other processes (here: cooling). The flexible EA producer structure with targeted sector coupling, in combination with energy monitoring and intelligent control of generation and demand, offers the opportunity to exploit the high CO2 savings potential existing in existing buildings, even without immediate energy-saving renovation of the building envelope...
