Resilient ecosystems are crucial for the achievement of national and international climate and biodiversity goals. A high degree of biodiversity is often associated with increased ecosystem resilience while climate change -related changes, such as the increasing variability of precipitation events, are often associated with reduced resilience. In order to permanently preserve the multifunctionality of ecosystems in the course of the progressive climate change, measures to protect and restore ecosystems must be aligned with a solid resilience concept.
The aim of the project is to develop a concept of climate resilience of ecosystems relevant to nature conservation in Germany. Ecosystem-specific properties are identified that contribute to climate resilience. A Germany-wide GIS data inventory is created on the climate resilience of ecosystems ("Map"), which supports nature conservation decisions. Recommendations for action are derived from this in order to convert resilience concepts in nature conservation. The results of the project are presented in a final workshop and ...
