The Hochtaunus Transport Association (VHT) is planning to electrify the Taunusbahn. The Taunusbahn route from Friedrichsdorf to Brandoberndorf is a single-track, non-electrified branch line approximately 37 km long. It is owned by the transport association Hochtaunus (VHT). The section from Friedrichsdorf to Usingen planned for electrification is approx. 18 km long and lies entirely in the Hochtaunuskreis. It runs from Friedrichsdorf via the Köppern, Saalburg, Wehrheim and Neu-Anspach and the Hausen stop to Usingen. Other components of the project include a double-track expansion of the line over a length of approx. 2 km, the reconstruction of Usingen train station and the expansion of the stop in Hundstadt Crossing station. The necessary adjustments to the control and safety technology as well as the level crossings will also be made.
