The reception building of Löhne train station, which is partly protected as a monument, was built in 1913. It is a large building made up of several components with a central reception hall, which is adjoined by a two-story east wing and a two-story west wing, in which there are former service rooms, waiting rooms for various classes, rooms for post, customs and police as well as the head's living quarters were accommodated. The areas of the former waiting rooms and the west wing have a basement. The building was constructed of dark red brick; the individual components have hipped and gable roofs. The facades are decorated with pilaster strips and Cornices subtly structured. The gable side with the main entrance is particularly highlighted through the use of decorative stream stone associations and a lively designed gable cornice. As part of this construction project, the station building will be fundamental renovated, rebuilt and expanded. In the future, the station building will be used by the Löhne city library as an open library and will be a community place that every visitor can use according to their needs. As a third place it offers Areas and rooms with a wide variety of requirements and qualities. This creates areas for encounters and exchanges (entrance hall), individual lockable workstations, semi-public workstations in the library areas and Group study rooms (former waiting rooms and west wing).
