Qualification and Experience
The following are the minimum requirements for Consultant/Firm to be considered for carrying out the assignment.
• Master-s degree in the field of Veterinary medicine, Livestock production, Agriculture and development, or related fields.
• At least 3 years with similar or relevant experience and engagement on Dairy value chain analysis or undertaking related tasks.
• Should have solid experience in both the humanitarian field and in the veterinary/livestock public health profession.
• High understanding of the Dairy value chain will be an asset
• Sound knowledge context as well as demonstrated ability to manage the available time and resources and to work to tight deadlines
• Experience working with inclusive business models and partnerships with the private sector is an asset
The objective of this consultancy to support small milk traders and catapult them from the constraints limiting the initiations and development of their business through: 1.) training on hygienic milk handling techniques. 2) provide and advice on the specification of appropriate cold chain facilities.3) support them operationalize the cold chain facilities. 4) create groups, cooperative and association for milk traders. 5) support the organization of dairy actors, 6) set selection criteria for the dairy actors. The consultant will also create model milk traders for both women and youth to encourage youth to employ themselves and their fellow youth.
The consulting firm will be responsible for:
Identify suitable female trainees, who will also be supported by Save the children as ToTs who are within the dairy value chain such as processors, bulkers, sellers and distributors
Developing and delivering the main business and milk hygiene training and mentoring needs identified during this initial consultation and agree with the milk value chain actors involved the support to this that they will bring business expansion, use of technology and employability.
Identify and recommend various financial services/or tools that milk marketing groups can benefit or engage
Where appropriate, evaluate and assess any local support networks or cooperatives that can be involved in ongoing support and mentoring of beneficiaries
Milk hygiene and handling Training report

Consultant role and expecting deliverables

Advising on the cold chain facilities and specification appropriated to the Somali context.

Candidates interested in the position are expected to provide the following documentation:
Technical proposal with a detailed response to the TOR, with specific focus on the scope of work, methodology to be used and key selection criteria.
Initial work plan based on the methodology outlined, and indication of availability
Financial proposal detailing the daily rate expected including accommodation, transportation, enumerators, and all other data collection cost related to this assignment.
