The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Fixed Substances requires the following components to modernize an existing photoelectron spectroscopy (xPS) system: a new monochromatic al-Kα x-ray source, an ion source for creating depth profiles and for sample cleaning as well as a flood gun for loading compensation for photoemision measurements on insulating samples. The following specifications must be met: 1 laboratory x-ray source for photoelectron spectroscopy 1.1 Monochromatic AL Kα x-ray source (1486.6 EV) for photoelectron spectroscopy 1.2 The geometry The source monochromator assembly must be compatible with the existing spherical y-metal chamber of the photoelectron spectron spectroscopy system, which has a DN63CF connection flange with a 170 mm port length for the monochromator (distance from the flange to the center of the chamber = analysis eagle okus). 1.3 Variable Spot size in the sample position: from ≥ approx. 1 mm to ≤ 0.2 mm for measurements even on small samples 1.4 photon line width of ≤ 0.25 EV 1.5 Photon flow 1E+10 photons/s for large spot 1.6 precision manipulators for setting the monochromator crystal and possibly Orientation of the source 1.7 Additional pump connections to ensure low pressures (UHV) in the main chamber during the measurements 1.8 Movable x-ray windows with high transmission for differential pumps and to shield the monochromator crystals e.g. Closed water cooling system 2 ion source for the creation of depth profiles and for sample cleaning 2.1 Extractor ion source with focused, scanning ion beam high power density 2.2 Variable jet size with a jet stain that can be focused on ≤ 200 ym on the sample position 2.3 Scan area ≥ 10 mm x 10 mm, correction for tilted samples 2.4 Energy sector of at least 0.2 - 5 KEV 2.5 ion current 5 yA at 5 kV for large spot 2.6 Suitable for inert and reactive gases 2.7...
