Award of network lease and network operating contracts to operate a gigabit-capable broadband network in Ortenaukreis (Phase 2) The Ortenaukreis, as well as 47 cities and municipalities belonging to the district, have set themselves the goal of working together in the underserved areas to establish an NGA network in their areas and to ensure its long-term operation. For this purpose, Broadband Ortenau GmbH & Co. KG (BOKG) was founded to take on the role of infrastructure provider for its shareholder municipalities. In In 2019/2020, the BOKG has an open, transparent and non-discriminatory procedure for awarding a service concession (operator model) for the lease and operation of a passive NGA network that has yet to be built passive infrastructure to be built as part of the so-called "White Spots Program" in accordance with the directive "Funding to support broadband expansion in the Federal Republic of Germany". The expansion in phase 1 was based on this funding regime to areas that were previously accessible for download with a data rate of less than 30 MBit/s. The expansion of this first phase has largely been completed. This will be followed by the expansion of phases 2 to 5.
