Type and scope of construction work: The remaining holes in the Progress pond group, consisting of the factory pond, wild boar pond and cable excavator pond, were created from the tipping development of the Victoria III opencast mine, which was operated from 1913 to 1949. In In many bank areas of the three remaining holes, hidden dams were created in the subsoil using vibratory pressure compaction in order to secure the area geotechnically (eliminating the risk of landslides). However, some areas still need to be reworked and work is still required to establish the Meuro-Süd outfall, the limit water levels in the pond group must continue to be adhered to in the medium term. The dewatering system, which is equipped with two Goulds 3410 centrifugal pumps, delivers an average of 200 l/s (720 m³/h) and serves to maintain the limit water level of +94.50 mNHN in the factory pond and +95.5 mNHN in the wild boar pond. There is an extra vacuum system for sucking in the water line when starting up. The discharge of the raised water takes place via an approx. 3, 500 m long PEHD DN 450 x 17.5 pipeline buried in the Pößnitz receiving water. The discharge point is located directly in front of the Pößnitz mine water treatment plant (GWRA). The iron hydroxide sludge (EHS) produced in the GWRA is disposed of in the Wild boar pond pumped. Due to the increase in the delivery parameters for the new pumping station and the state of construction of the existing system components, the renewal of all components is necessary. The operation of the old system during construction is to be ensured the operating water levels are absolutely necessary.
