The shipping segment is a essential factor for saving emissions in the port of Hamburg. By using shore power systems, ships can switch off the ship's own diesel generators while at rest, thereby significantly reducing local pollutant emissions.
Port Energy Solutions is responsible as a division of the Hamburg Port Authority, the construction and operation of shore power systems for seagoing vessels within the port of Hamburg. A ship is connected to the quay via the movable ship connection systems (ASS) located there. The switching operations are decentralized at each terminal carried out in the control room of the respective converter station.
