UNFPA is the lead agency within the United Nations system for the procurement of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) supplies and the world's largest public-sector procurer of contraceptives. Efficient supply chain management (SCM) is essential for a resilient health system, ensuring a consistent supply of vital Family Planning (FP) and Reproductive Health (RH) commodities. Continuous access is crucial for ensuring good maternal and neonatal health outcomes, preventing unintended pregnancies, and advancing gender equity. Without functioning SCM, programs cannot deliver essential products, thus undermining healthcare efforts. Sexual and reproductive health is a fundamental human right. Access to safe, quality, and effective contraceptives, medicines, and equipment is paramount to women's SRH and is central to achieving gender equality. Access to family planning (FP) is often hindered by supply chain failures, alongside other barriers that limit women's autonomy. In the Arab Region only, a total of 13.6 million women still have an unmet need for family planning (FP). The UNFPA Arab States Regional Office (ASRO) will undertake a comprehensive analysis of the SCM landscape for SRH commodities and supplies across 14 UNFPA program countries in the Arab Region.
