The city of Herrenberg is pursuing intensive internal development and has been supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg since 2023 with the “Ortskern Affstätt” redevelopment area. This gives the city the opportunity to develop urban development, to eliminate design and functional deficits and to carry out upgrading measures. The competition area is entirely in the redevelopment area. The planning area covers around 17, 955 m² total area. The aim of the upgrading measures is to strengthen the Town center as an attractive urban meeting and recreation area as well as a functional and traffic reorganization and design upgrade of the town thoroughfare. The realization competition with an idea section aims at a variety of open-space, urban planning and functionally holistic solution approaches as well as the awarding of a planning contract for the object planning of open spaces and traffic facilities in the town center of Affstätt (Lph 1-9). In addition, urban planning ideas concepts for the future development and reorganization of four areas in the “Ortskern Affstätt” redevelopment area are collected. The realization is expected to take place in three construction phases.
