As part of the location selection for a repository for highly radioactive waste (HAW) in Germany, there is a need for provision to take place against locations-specific nature-related effects from outside (EVA) on the repository during the operating phase. These EVA are to be identified, evaluated and weighing up their forecast options, here artificial intelligence (AI) can support.
The primary goal of the Peak project is to obtain knowledge of the available and in use national and international AI-based forecast methods for EVA in the operating phase of a HAW end. The use of these methods, including For real-time monitoring and warning as well as the associated scenarios analysis and the simulation of corresponding effects of selected events, must be shown and evaluated in national and international (repository) projects. Finally, these AI-based methods must be examined in the context of a SWOT analysis with regard to their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks of the approaches used.
