Description
Whiteman Air Force Base (WAFB) has average annual snowfall of 19.7 inches. The Vaisala Runway Weather Information System (RWIS) was installed in September 2023 to monitor weather and runway surface conditions providing Pavements and Grounds personnel with vital data. Information provided by this system allows for the advanced and timely warning for application of chemicals and snow operations planning during inclement weather. A Government contractor provides RWIS maintenance and data hosting services.
