BACKGROUND The National Autonomous University of Honduras, UNAH, created in 1847, is responsible for organizing, directing and develop higher education in Honduras, in accordance with article 160 of the Constitution of the Republic. It currently has a teaching staff of around 3, 600 teachers, serves more than eighty thousand students, with an offer of more than one hundred degree and postgraduate level courses that are offered in person, remotely and virtually. In 2008, the UNAH created the Directorate of Educational Innovation (DIE), an academic unit that in its 2014-2019 strategic plan establishes the lines of action for the construction and implementation of the educational innovation model and the design of institutional policies aimed at generating capabilities in the university community to ensure that, at UNAH, innovation and creativity find their place natural.
