Overview:
Stage 2 of the Wanaka Lakefront Development Plan (WLDP) delivers a 3.6m wide dual direction shared pedestrian and cycle path, the second stage of the master planned continuous lakefront active travel path. Stage 2 will see the recreation lawn expanded and re-established with new irrigation enhancing the ecology of the site. Existing on reserve informal public parking will be relocated and formalised with 114 car spaces off Ardmore Street. Expansion of the stormwater network with waste water treatment system within Pembroke Park. Tree planting will provide shade to the recreation and new picnic and relaxation facilities. Within the project, the Wanaka Millennium Path is refreshed and reinstated along with the addition of a feature custom paved area and improved pedestrian and vehicle connection to town centre and Pembroke Park. Interpretive signage will add an educational layer to the cultural and historical aspects of the site.
