Walker Branch Wetland Restoration - Section 1135

INTRODUCTION

The Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is issuing this sources sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support the requirement for construction services for the Walker Branch Wetland Restoration - Section 1135. The Government will provide the contractor a full design package which will include sealed design drawings and specifications. Primary components of Walker Branch 1135 include two independently controlled wetland pools created by constructing earthen embankments with three water control structures and auxiliary spillway. Restoring this wetland would restore vegetation in the area and provide important habitat to migrating waterfowl and other wildlife.

Features to be constructed and associated construction activities include approximately 2500- of earthen berms constructed to USACE dam quality requirements, welded steel pipe Wisconsin tube water control structures, high-capacity cast-in-place concrete water control structure that is similar to a small bridge/multi-cell culvert, rip rap protection on auxiliary spillways, excavation (up to 12ft) of borrow material, installation of sheet pile beneath limited reaches of earthen berms, installation of gravel car park and boat ramp. The contractor must have the capacity to construct the project within 12 months and have prior experience managing large environmental restoration projects.
