The Town of Fort Smith is seeking bids for a FireSmart vegetation reduction project at the Fort Smith Landfill. The work covers approximately 1.9 hectares and is intended to reduce wildfire risk by thinning forested areas, prioritizing the removal of flammable coniferous trees while retaining fire-resistant deciduous species such as aspen, poplar, and birch. The project also includes removing ladder fuels, clearing debris, managing timber, and mulching, chipping, or burning non-marketable wood in accordance with applicable regulations. Contractors must supply all labour, equipment, and materials required to complete the work by November 31, 2026. A progress inspection will occur two months after award, and at least 50% of the work must be completed by that time or the contract may be cancelled. Contractors must hold a valid Fort Smith business licence, liability insurance, and be in good standing with WSCC. Tender Closing: August 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. local time. The contract will be awarded based on best value, with timely completion being a critical evaluation factor.
