Tender Details

The work consists of cleaning the sediment that has settled in Vatnsfellsskurður above the valve structure from the canal and placing it in a deposition area north of the dike outside of Þórisvatn. The outer part of the canal, next to Þórisvatn, which consists of tuff layers, see details on the overview. It is foreseeable that all work will have to be done from a barge on the canal. The hole or wedge must be drilled and blasted, but the loose material can be pumped. In the spring of 2024 and 2025, the water level of Lake Þórisvatn will be at a minimum, so in many places it is possible to get right to the canal, but most of the sediment is located where such access is not possible.
