The existing imaging system is no longer operational and cannot be repaired. This equipment is required to support ongoing laboratory research activities that study liver diseases and viral infections. The equipment is used to visualize and document biological samples during routine laboratory experiments. These experiments support federally funded research that aims to better understand viral infections and identify potential treatments. Without a functioning imaging system, researchers will not be able to properly analyze experimental results, which would delay ongoing research activities. NIH serves as the requiring federal agency, NIDDK is the sponsoring organization, and the requirement supports the research mission of the LDB Documents
