Thomas de Keyserplein The Thomas de Keyserstraat in Enschede is scheduled for redevelopment in the coming period. The reason for this is twofold. On the one hand, the square is in a state where both the underground infrastructure and the above-ground equipment is approaching the end of its technical lifespan. For example, the municipal maintenance program has determined that major maintenance of the asphalt and replacement of the sewerage system are necessary. In addition, a important main drain for rain and groundwater constructed through the Thomas de Keyserstraat. This drain will transport water from part of the Stadsveld district towards the Usselerstroom. On the other hand, there is a clear desire from the environment to improve the quality of public space. In particular, the parking lot at the junction of Thomas de Keyserstraat and Wethouder Nijhuisstraat is currently perceived as unattractive and uninviting. At first the project was included as regular major maintenance within the asphalt and sewerage program. However, following internal and external advice, it has been concluded that an integrated approach is desirable and effective.
