Tender Details

Tender are invited for 105 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to search for evidence of renal and hepatic fibrosis, assess intrarenal iron content, and to obtain measures of cortical and total renal volume of both kidneys. We are studying the course and determinants of diabetic kidney disease in Pima Indians with type 2 diabetes. The project includes state-of-the-art measurements of kidney structure and function. Recent advances in imaging of the kidney may make it possible to assess kidney structure without obtaining a kidney biopsy. In this study, we intend to compare kidney images obtained using magnetic resonance imaging with the gold standard morphometric measurements obtained from kidney tissue at biopsy. Since participants with type 2 diabetes are also at greater risk of liver fibrosis linked to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, we also want to examine participants for the presence of liver fibrosis using magnetic resonance elastography.
