Description

TECHNOLOGY LICENSING OPPORTUNITY

Enhance Cyber-Physical Resilience with CyRARR: Automated Response and Recovery Solution

An automated two-part solution that dynamically prevents cyber-attacks on sensitive control systems without human intervention.

Opportunity: Idaho National Laboratory (INL), managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), is offering the opportunity to explore a license and/or collaborative research agreement to commercialize CyRARR. This technology transfer opportunity is part of a dedicated effort to convert government-funded research into job opportunities, businesses, and, ultimately, an improved way of life for the American people.

Overview: The nation-s critical infrastructure is vital to maintaining the health and stability of our society. These systems have been designed to cope with natural disasters and maintenance outages, but their ever-growing reliance on network connectivity introduces concerns about evolving cyber threats. Cyber-attacks have been used to successfully disable, damage, and disrupt the function of control systems. Traditional IT security devices such as firewalls and IDS have proven insufficient against advanced threats. Attacks are becoming increasingly automated to the point where a human response cannot mitigate a cyber threat. An OT system needs to have only a single vulnerability exploited by an attacker to cause severe damage. New techniques are necessary to recognize attacks at high fidelity for combating modern cyber threats. The ability to recognize and surgically respond to cyber-attacks to control systems such that the maximum level of mitigation is achieved while minimizing the impact on operations is preeminent to achieving cyber resilience.

Description: By utilizing an intelligent cyber-sensor capable of ingesting cyber and physical data, we can leverage machine learning with situational awareness to surgically identify anomalous activity, the type of cyber...
