BACKGROUND: The PPD (Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility) in Paraguay establishes the main objective of promoting initiatives and strengthening the capacities of community organizations and civil society through the financing of non-reimbursable funds. Currently, it is executing the Operational Strategy for the period2016 - 2018, 6th Phase, in which the Program will seek to increase the impact of its projects by prioritizing strategic components related to: Advocacy in public policies; Social inclusion and citizen participation; Training, dissemination and exchange of knowledge; which must respond to the GEF focal areas: climate change, biodiversity, managementsustainable forest, soil degradation, chemical products. In this operative phase the GEF PPD in Paraguay will strengthen the strengthening of "Territories and Areas conserved by indigenous peoples and local communities (TICCA)". In this sense, Paraguay is prioritized among one of the 26 countries identified for the implementation of the Global Initiativeof Support to ICCA - GSI ", which aims to" improve the recognition, support, and global effectiveness of biodiversity, conservation, sustainable livelihoods and resilience to climate change, of territories and conserved areas for indigenous peoples and local communities (ICCA), through the improved capacities of allintervening arts ". This project is funded by the German Ministry of Environment (BMU), the GEF SGP and other donors and partners at the global, national and local levels (ICCA Consortium, IUCN - International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the CBD secretariat - Convention on Biological Diversity, UNEP WCMC - Global Monitoring Centerof the Conservation of the United Nations Program for the Environment).
