The subject of procurement is technical assistance for the procurement and implementation of the IPP/Alliance contract for the design and construction of the Lowland Railway in the Republic of Croatia. Railway line M202 Zagreb GK - Rijeka is one of the main (corridor) railways that located on the RH2 corridor, and thus on the Mediterranean Trans-European Railway Corridor and on the branch of the Rail Freight Corridor RFC 6 on the comprehensive TEN-T network. With the amendments to the Regulation on the TEN-T network from 2024, Croatia positioned itself on two additional ones corridors: Baltic Sea - Adriatic Sea and Western Balkans - Eastern Mediterranean. Thus, the railway corridor RH2 and the Port of Rijeka have gained additional importance, and it is necessary to remove the traffic "bottlenecks" as soon as possible, that is, to ensure greater throughput capacity of the railway direction Zagreb Main Station - Rijeka by building a new two-track electrified railway that will enable a designed speed of 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains.
