In order to meet the increasing demands of traction power supply, OeBB-Infrastruktur AG intends to construct the "Tauernmoos power plant" in Salzburg's Stubachtal (Pinzgau, municipality of Uttendorf). In the course of the project, the two existing reservoirs Tauernmoos-See and Weissseeverbufind. The gradient between the two reservoirs Weisssee and Tauernmoos-See with a height difference of approx. 220 m on average has not been used for energy purposes up to now. Thanks to the "Tauernmoos power plant" with a nominal output of 170 MW, electricity can be generated here in the future from the inflowsto the Weisssee and, on the other hand, energy can be stored by pumping water up into the Weisssee without the officially approved operation of the existing plants being changed.
