Abstract: The Supporting People Planning Group has agreed to commission an Adult Mediation Housing Related Support Service based upon local needs and with a preventative approach in mind to reduce homelessness.This project seeks to intervene and mediate with families and with landlords where necessary to prevent points of crisis or issues escalating into homelessness.In addition the service will be accessed by individuals leaving prison whose family do not wish them to return home.The homelessness strategy has a specific action relating to the provision of a mediation service for single people over the age of 18 as part of its focus on early intervention to prevent homelessness. This mediation service will assist in meeting this aim and contribute towards the reduction of homelessness, healthy relationships and building resilience in those vulnerable individuals accessing both statutory and on statutory services.
