Description: In Afghanistan explosive hazards continue to have a devastating impact on civilians: in 2021, 895 civilians have been recorded to have been killed or injured by mines and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) according to the Afghan Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC). While men remain the primary victims, their death and/or injury heavily impacts women and other vulnerable or minority groups who often have to become the head of household and breadwinner to large families, while carrying out their prior duties and tending to their injured family member(s) all at the same time.Despite the differing and unique humanitarian needs and risks of women, men, girls and boys in mine action programming, equality and inclusion considerations need to be improved in MAPA projects, especially in those implemented by national mine action non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which have comparatively less expertise i...
