The Pickit project, developed by the Uliege Gemme laboratory, aims to integrate several sensors capable of extracting data on fragments of crushed waste. These data are then analyzed by an artificial intelligence model, which makes it possible to classify the fragments, which are sorted by robotic arms.
A LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) system has been added. This technology allows you to go beyond the simple separation of the elements (copper, zinc, aluminum, Stainless steel, etc.) by also identifying alloys inside the same material (different types of aluminum or stainless steel, for example).
The Gemme laboratory is developing two Libs systems:
1-One first, installed on the main sorting strip, positioned about a meter high, requires a high laser power and a rapid shooting frequency to analyze moving parts.
2-One second, installed on a so-called "analytical" strip, slower, will make it possible to deepen the analysis of the parts deemed uncertain by the sensors upstream by pulling much more on it, or on zones of interest. This system will also be used to enrich our database to cause more complex models.
The two Libs systems will be made up of the following elements, which are subject to a specific lot each time:
• Lot 1 "Supply, installation and commissioning of two the...
