As part of the EquipEx MARMOR (Marine Advanced geophysical Research equipment and Mayotte multidisciplinary Observatory for research and Response) funded in 2021 for 8 years, it was decided to develop a prototype seabed observatory based on distributed measurement on fiber optic cableue, in particular by relying on the acquisition technique known as "distributed acoustic measurement", or Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) in English. This prototype observatory will be developed using the 160km deep-sea telecom cable between Monaco and Savona (Italy), now decommissionedsionne.
