Description : I. BRIEF BACKGROUND :
Since the resumption of cruise operations in February 2023, the Department of Tourism - National Capital Region (DOT-NCR), in partnership with the Office of Product and Market Development (OPMD), has recorded steady growth in cruise arrivals. In FY 2023, DOT-NCR welcomed 36, 172 passengers and crew from 24 cruise vessels at the Manila Port. By the end of FY 2024, this number increased to 45, 820. As of 2025, DOT-NCR has already received 23 cruise arrivals with 48, 912 guests, with four more arrivals expected by year-end, reflecting the continued recovery and growth of cruise tourism in the region.
Furthermore, the Department of Tourism was a major partner and main sponsor of Seatrade Cruise Asia, held in Manila on November 12-13, 2024. The event gathered global cruise industry leaders and served as a strategic platform to promote the Philippines as a cruise-ready destination, strengthen partnerships, and encourage more cruise calls to the country.
