Tender Details

On 15 February 2016 a fire and electrical fault at Islington (ISL) Static VAR Compensator (SVC9) destroyed a significant amount of equipment in the Thyristor Switched Capacitor (TSC) compound.
SVC9 was returned to service without the TSC function on 1 April 2016 and with a reduced rating of +40/-75 MVAr (compare with the design rating of +150/-75 MVAr).
A project is now underway to procure, manufacture, install, test and commission replacement equipment and implement repairs to ISL SVC9 TSC to restore it to full operating capacity.
A separate contract has been awarded to ABB for the supply of the plant and equipment, and provision of installation and commissioning supervision.
This tender is for the preparation of the site, local installation of the supplied plant and equipment, other remaining works, and testing and re-commissioning of the TSC and SVC at ISL.
