Tender Details

China has embraced a low carbon transition with unprecedented deployment of renewable energy (RE) and rationalizing consumption of energy with energy efficiency measures. As part of this transition, China needs to deepen the power sector reforms to provide the right pricing signals for the paradigm shift to a RE-dominated power system. The pricing mechanisms for energy storage and heat are critical components that require thorough examination and optimization.The objective of this assignment is to share the international experience on incentivizing energy storage, promoting inter-provincial power trade and improving energy efficiency in the heat production with China. In addition, this assignment will produce recommendation on the policy suggestions for advancing China-s power market reform. An institution (“Consultant”) will be hired to advise the Bank. The output of this assignment is expected to help GoC reform price mechanism and regulation for energy storage and heating sector, advance the Southern Regional Power Market and form part of the Bank-s global knowledge in the energy transition area.
