Station Street from Port Robinson Road to Hwy 20 is a popular north-south arterial road in Fonthill. The roadway has a two-lane semi-urban cross section complete with sidewalk on the east side of the road through the entire project area.
The existing watermain on Station Street is 200 mm PVC pipe that was recently replaced in 2018/2019 including all municipal water services. The new watermain replaced an existing 150 mm Cast-Iron watermain. The existing sanitary sewer is 250mm AC pipe and was installed in 1972. The last CCTV inspections completed on the pipe was in 2010. The Town will be completing a new flush and CCTV inspection of the pipe in 2024. It is possible that the existing sanitary sewer may need to be replaced due to age and condition. There is currently no storm sewer on Station Street; however, there are storm sewers located on Pelham Town Square and Summerside-s Ave. The proposed storm sewer outlet for Station Street, based on the design completed to date, is between 1435 and 1437 Station Street and behind the existing Sobeys building which can be used as possible storm outlets. Negotiations for the easement required to complete this outlet location is currently underway. It will be the successful proponent-s responsibility to assist the Town with the negotiations to obtain the easement prior to construction commencing.
