SST04 - Tunnel and Constructions The tunnel project is part of the protection of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Gentofte and Gladsaxe against flooding in connection with cloudburst events. The Skybrud tunnel works by the fact that at high water levels in the waste water system, which as a result of rainfall events in Copenhagen, Gentofte, Gladsaxe and Frederiksberg, water from the waste water system is directed directly to the tunnel. In cases where the admitted water volume does not exceed the tunnel's capacity, the water will be stored in the tunnel. When there is again capacity in the waste water system and at the treatment plant, the stored water will be pumped via drain pumps at the bottom of the shaft at FSK for cleaning at the treatment plant Lynette, through a newly established drain line. If the precipitation event exceeds the tunnel's capacity, the water is directed to Øresund via the outlet construction at FSK (Fiskerihavnen/Skudehavnen). The existing rainwater network is connected to the cloudburst tunnel via constructions below ground, the so-called connecting structures. At Fiskerihavnen, an outlet structure and a pumping station will be established, as well as a connection to the existing waste water system at the beach wing. The pumping station consists of an underground engineering facility with a smaller building above ground.
