The delivery of HMP Glasgow as a replacement for HMP Barlinnie is a flagship project for the Scottish Prison Service. The site of the new prison, located in the Provanmill area of Glasgow, was acquired in late 2020 and procurement activity commenced in October 2021. Following a two-stage process, Kier Construction Limited were awarded a contract to provide pre-construction services in August 2022 to develop a design for the facility to RIBA Stage 4 and were awarded the contract for the construction stage in January 2025.The project has moved into RIBA Stage 5and works are progressing on and off-site to facilitate the development. With the Design Team being directly appointed by the Contractor, and there being no retained services, the Client requires a suitably skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary team to work alongside them as a Technical Advisor, offering professional technical advice to the Client Team, monitoring the technical design for compliance with the Contract, carrying out technical reviews of all design documentation provided by the Contractor, and in conjunction with the appointed Clerk of Works team (with whom they will form the Quality Assurance Team), ensuring quality.
