South Taranaki District CouncilSOUTH TARANAKI DISTRICT COUNCIL. SOUTH TARANAKI DISTRICT COUNCIL RESOURCE RECOVERY CENTRE OPERATOR. RFx ID: 31703982. Close Date: Thursday, 19 June 2025, 12:00 PM (Pacific/Auckland UTC+12:00). Tender Type: Request for Proposals (RFP). Region: Taranaki. Overview: As part of the 2024 Long-Term Plan (LTP), the South Taranaki District Council (STDC) has endeavoured to establish a Resource Recovery Centre (RCC) based in Hawera. This RRC will support the Council to achieve both the waste minimisation and carbon reduction goals set out in the Environment and Sustainability strategy. This project involves securing a third-party organisation to run and operate the RRC facility. The facility will aim to reduce the volumes (tons) of waste being sent to landfills by processing various waste streams, including construction and demolition, household wares, textiles, e-waste, and other revenue-earning waste streams. This project seeks to secure the services of an experienced third party that can sustainably run the RRC independently from the Council in the long run. The Council will supply resources through the utilisation of land and purpose-built facility that is designed and built with the operator-s recommendations and input and support with one employee who will be based and working at the facility for the first 5 years; thereafter, any extensions or renewals of the contract will be based on performance and negotiations at the time.
