The internal IT department currently operates its own data center in the server room in the city of Burgdorf. The server infrastructure has reached the end of its operational life and will in future be purchased as Infrastructure-as-a-Service from an external provider and installed be operated in a geo-redundant data center in Switzerland as a dedicated or shared private cloud. The approximately 350 user workstations will be provided entirely via a centralized and scalable Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). can be realized, which is seamlessly integrated into this new private cloud environment. The future provider will take over the construction, operation and maintenance of the physical infrastructure, the virtualization layer and the virtual servers Conceptual services and migration services as well as further development services are received during the contract period (directing hours, pool days). From the top of the server operating system onwards, the management of systems and applications lies in the Responsibility for the internal IT department of the city of Burgdorf.
