Kaakkois-Suomen Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy (later Xamk) is asking for offers for the expert service needed for the BioKas - Growth from biochar - towards a peat-free society project: consulting service related to the development of the growing medium product and to the related research and experimental measures. The consulting service will include, among other things, expert support for the development of the growing medium, the planning of greenhouse experiments and the interpretation of analysis results. The project is of the European Union co-financed and supported by the Etelä-Savo county confederation. The project period is 1 July 2025-30 June 2027. Background of the acquisition BioKas - Growth from biochar - towards a peat-free society is a project of the Southeastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), which develops peat-free growing media and product blanks for soil improvement by utilizing biochar and experimenting with biomasses for the production of biochar according to the circular economy. More information about the project can be found at: https://www.xamk.fi/hanke/biokas/In the third work package of the project Together with greenhouse entrepreneurs, we are testing biochar-based growing media to replace, among other things, peat-based media. New types of product blanks are being developed, where nutrients (nitrogen & phosphorus) are added to the biochar before the growth medium is formulated.
