Sahlgrenska Life Hus 1 is part of a combined Life Science cluster together with Hus 2 and Hus 3. Sahlgrenska Life Hus 1 is located at the Sahlgrenska hospital, Hus 3 on Medicinareberget and Hus 2 is a link building across Per Dubbsgatan that connects Hus 1 and House 3. Sahlgrenska Life is an investment for future care and research and one of the largest investments in Life Science in the Nordics. With Sahlgrenska Life, conditions are created where research and education work in a close and mutual exchange between care and business life. The Västra Götaland region, through Västfastigheter construction and management, is the developer for Sahlgrenska Life Hus 1, which is a building with eleven floors above ground and a culvert level. There is also a heliport on the roof of the building runway and helicopter stand. The building's gross area is approximately 61, 000 m². In Building 1, both clinical and research premises are planned for Regional laboratory medicine and Biobank Väst. There are also plans for three care operations - one new emergency department with associated ambulance hall, a intensive care unit and an operating room. A new helipad for the Sahlgrenska hospital will be placed on the roof. Stage 1, which refers to earthworks and prefabricated frame, has been procured and is ongoing as one general contracting.
