Tender Details
The Institute of Geochemistry and Petrology at ETH Zurich intends to replace its existing analytical scanning electron microscope (SEM) with a new system. This will be equipped with a field emission source, SE and powerful BSE detectors as well as a state-of-the-art energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) with a large detector area (≥ 100 mm²). We are also interested in offers for a panchromatic and/or a monochromatic cathodoluminescence detector (entry-level model). The main objective of the instrument is to perform precise and accurate quantitative EDS analyzes using a rigorous quantification protocol that includes the use of reference materials as well as full matrix correction (ZAF, phi-rho-z or equivalent). The device must have a large sample chamber that can accommodate at least three petrographic thin sections and six round samples (1 inch diameter) embedded in epoxy resin. In addition, the system should be programmable to enable automated quantitative EDS analysis series with a runtime of more than 24 hours. For details see specifications.
