Rottnest Island Is An A Class Marine And Terrestrial Reserve, Under The Land Administration Act 1997. Rottnest Island Authority (Ria) Manages And Operates Rottnest Island In Accordance With The Rottnest Island Authority Act 1987. This Allows Ria To Control Access To And From The Marine Reserve, Up To 800 Metres From The Shore. Ria Also Controls The Operations Of The Main Jetty And Barge Landing Area, And Exercises Control Over The Allocation Of Berthing Privileges.All Freight To The Island Is Currently Dispatched From Fremantle (Rous Head) And Delivered To Rottnest Island?S Barge Landing Area At Thomson Bay. Return Freight From Rottnest Island Is Currently Despatched From The Barge Landing Area And Delivered To Fremantle.This Request Is Seeking To Engage An Appropriately Experienced And Competent Contractor For The Provision Of Freight Logistic (Barge) Services To The Island From Fremantle Or Close Surrounding Areas. The Proposed Contract Is Required To Ensure That The Services Necessary For Delivery Of Freight To The Island Are Delivered In An Efficient And Cost-Effective Manner.
